Properties of square tubing

So if you remove the material from the less stressed inner areas, you reduce the weight significantly more than you lose stability, resulting in a square tube. As steel and semi-finished products such as profile tubes are sold on the global market based on their weight, they also prove to be particularly cost-efficient.

Rectangular tubes
Rectangular tubes are hollow profiles with edges of different lengths. The ratio of these edge lengths can vary greatly and is selected according to the intended use.
As a rule, they are used horizontally as supports, as they have two bending axes of different strengths. If it is clear that the horizontal tube will only be loaded from above, a rectangular tube is often the better choice compared to a square tube. It offers the same load-bearing capacity at a lower weight and is therefore particularly suitable for this special application.

Do steel square tubes rust?
Yes, our steel square tubes can rust. This is because they are made of an unalloyed structural steel called S235JR, which has no corrosion-resistant properties. Nevertheless, the material can be easily protected against rust by painting it or applying a comparable protective coating. In most cases, this is cheaper than relying on corrosion-resistant stainless steel square tubes.
