At this point, we would also like to explicitly point out that the delivery by the forwarding only takes place "free edge of the curb".
What exactly is Cortenstahl?
Corten steel, also known as weatherproof steel or COR-TEN steel, is a special type of steel alloy. Its outstanding weather resistance and the characteristic rostrote patina make it unique. The term “corrosion resistance” derives from the words “corrosion resistance” and “tensile strength” which indicates the specific properties of this alloy. The following paragraph lists the main features:
- Weather resistance: Cortensteel forms a protective grate layer on the surface that protects the underlying material from further corrosion. This grate layer forms over time and gives the steel a characteristic raw color
- Longevity: Due to its high weather resistance and corrosion resistance, corten steel is particularly durable and requires less care compared to conventional steel
- Aesthetic properties: The raw patina gives Cortenstahl an aesthetically pleasing and natural look that is appreciated by many garden lovers
- Self-regenerating: In the case of minor damage to the grate layer, corten steel itself regenerates because the alloy has the ability to form a protective oxide layer again.
- Self-watering effect: The grate layer on corten steel forms a natural barrier to moisture loss. This self-watering effect can help regulate the moisture in the high bed and reduce the water requirement of the plants
What does the term "Patina"?
The patina is a natural oxide layer which forms on the surface of metals such as corten steel. This results from chemical reactions with ambient air and moisture, gives the metal a characteristic coloration and protects it from further corrosion. In the case of corten steel, the rust patina adopts a raw color and serves as a protective layer against progressive corrosion. This effect is achieved after about 6 months.
What distinguishes a highbed from a conventional beet?
A high beet or also herbal beet and veggie beet is different from a traditional, flat beet due to its increased construction. High beds allow early cultivation and extend the harvest time by effective heat storage. When planting, you are independent of soil quality and can largely dispense with fertilizers. The rotting of organic components creates valuable, nutrient-rich humus which releases heat and nutrients to promote optimal plant growth in the uppermost layer of the earth. Another advantage is that there are fewer weeds in the high bed, as the majority of the seed flight takes place at ground level.
Special advantages of Cortenstahl Hochbeet
The seams that are precisely welded by hand ensure unprecedented stability in combination with the resistant corten steel. For those who want to use the rust effect in a targeted manner, the advantages of Cortenstahl are appreciated. Through the natural grate patina, high beds get an exclusive look and become the perfect eye-catcher in the garden.
- High beds are barrier-free and also allow work in sitting position
- High beds offer older people with walking disabilities or back problems the opportunity to find joy in gardening again
- By means of the targeted "heating" of the earth in high beds, an earlier sowing and harvest is possible in comparison with flat beds
- In high yields you can achieve significantly higher yields
- For cleaning the high bed, it is sufficient to remove the dirt with a fine sponge and then rinse briefly with a water hose.
- Snails have made it harder to eat plants in high beds. The protective effect can be increased by using materials such as corten steel, since the high copper content makes it difficult to access the screws
- Especially well suited for vegetables and herbs
Additional information
Our high-bed corten steel may be more expensive than conventional steel, but its durable and aesthetically pleasing design makes it a rewarding investment. The durability can be up to ten times longer than usual steel. The raw patina, which forms with time, not only gives Cortenstahl a special charm, but also serves as a protective layer, which contributes to its longevity. This special steel offers not only a great sight, but also outstanding advantages over normal steel.
