The steel formerly known as ST37 is one of the unalloyed steels and is distinguished, in particular, by its low carbon content, by its good weldability.

The steel can be chipped and shaped in a comparable manner, so that there is nothing in the way of manual further processing. In addition, the material has a particularly good thermoformability.
S235JR achieves a result of 27J in the notched impact bending work at 20° C. and has a tensile strength of at least 360 N/mm2. The yield point begins at 215 N/mm2 at product thicknesses below 80mm and ends at 235 N/mm2 for product thicknesses below 16mm.
